Hello Sunshine ☀️

Thank you for being here! My name is Mariana Leon and I’m a Venezuelan-American painter and photographer based in Austin, Texas. In both painting and photography, I aim to create lasting odes to nature, life, sunlight, and color.

I was raised between Houston and Venezuelan in my childhood, and I paint with a deep connection to place, loss, and lineage. My current body of work, Wild Mother, channels the layered beauty of everyday experience where tenderness, chaos, and ancestral memory coexist on the canvas.

I studied screenwriting as a Radio-Television-Film major at the University of Texas at Austin, and bring that same sense of narrative to my visual work. I live and paint in the hills of Austin, where I raise my three young children and four fur babies with my wonderful husband.

  • I use professional grade heavy body acrylics along with a heavy gel medium in order to create the bold, bright textures that you can find on every one of my pieces. Every piece of art has been painted on a professional, gallery wrapped, acid free cotton canvas and is ready to be hung in its forever home.
