About the Artist

Mariana Leon is a Venezuelan-American painter based in Austin, Texas. Self-taught and deeply intuitive, she creates large-scale, textured works that reflect the emotional rhythms of daily life - motherhood, memory, movement, and mood. Her practice is rooted in physicality and process, guided by the intuitive movement of her body rather than a written plan.

Raised between Houston and Venezuelan in her childhood, Mariana paints with a deep connection to place, loss, and lineage. Her current body of work, Wild Mother, channels the layered beauty of everyday experience - where tenderness, chaos, and ancestral memory coexist on the canvas.

She studied screenwriting as a Radio-Television-Film major at the University of Texas at Austin, and brings that same sense of narrative to her visual work. She lives and paints in the hills of Austin, where she raises her three young children.

  • I use professional grade heavy body acrylics along with a heavy gel medium in order to create the bold, bright textures that you can find on every one of my pieces. Every piece of art has been painted on a professional, gallery wrapped, acid free cotton canvas and is ready to be hung in its forever home.

  • Custom pieces start at $1200 - price varies based on size, subject matter, and materials used. If you’re interested in a custom piece, please reach out to me via email - let’s connect!

  • I am currently in the process of setting up a storefront for ordering high quality giclee prints as well as ordering originals. Keep an eye out on my socials as I will announce when this is up and running. If you’re needing something immediately, please reach out to me directly through email.
