Hello and thank you for being here! My name is Mariana Leon and I’m a Venezuelan-American painter and photographer based in Austin, Texas. In both painting and photography, I aim to create lasting odes to nature, life, sunlight, and color.
I was raised between Houston and Venezuelan in my childhood, and I paint from a connection to place, loss, and lineage. My current body of work, Wild Mother, channels the layered beauty of everyday experience where softness, chaos, and ancestral memory coexist on the canvas.
I studied screenwriting as a Radio-Television-Film major at the University of Texas at Austin, and bring that same sense of narrative to my visual work. I live and paint in the hills of Austin, where I raise my three young children and four fur babies with my wonderful husband.

I use professional grade heavy body acrylics along with a heavy gel medium in order to create the bold, bright textures that you can find on every one of my pieces. Every piece of art has been painted on a professional, gallery wrapped, acid free cotton canvas and is ready to be hung in its forever home.

Custom pieces start at $1200 - price varies based on size, subject matter, and materials used. If you’re interested in a custom piece, please reach out to me via email - let’s connect!
