Brand Photography for Austin Baby Cafe

There is nothing cuter than watching a bunch of tiny little babies exploring an exciting new play place. That’s what I got to do when I worked a branding event for Austin Baby Cafe. The event concept was simple: Baby Cafe invited some parents and their babies to experience the newly built indoor play place, enjoy some refreshments and snacks, and relax while some content was shot.

For this experience, my method of research was a bit different since the business had not yet opened. Normally, I would browse content, see what they normally utilize, examine their website, etc. I still did these things but I knew that they were a brand new business that did not have established content in place just yet. So I came in with a general idea of what I wanted to capture as well as knowledge on their philosophy, their brand, and their general practices.

The Baby Cafe is such a sweet business concept! It’s an indoor play place and cafe combined. When you walk in, there is a little cafe area where you can grab snacks and beverages before heading into the play area. The play area has the cutest mini city on one side and a fun playscape on the other side. The mini city has a grocery store, a hospital, a kitchen, and a library. The playscape has multiple slides, tunnels, and cute bubble shaped windows for kids to peek out at their parents through.

My goal was to capture the children enjoying their play area independently and also grabbing shots of them interacting with their parents, since Baby Cafe’s entire point is to provide an easy spot for parents to socialize knowing their children are safe and entertained. So, in short, the parents experience was just as important as the children’s experience for Baby Cafe’s marketing.

So I watched them play, and tried to stay out of their way - which is really hard to do when you’re around so many tinies who are equipped with very little coordination haha! I took pictures of a little girl wearing a chef’s hat, an apron, and an oven mitt in a little kitchen area. Parents sitting in a circle socializing exactly how Baby Cafe intended. A mom having her temperature taken by her mini doctor. A mom and her cup of coffee reading a book to her little one. The Baby Cafe is all about sweet little interactions, so my photographs captured exactly that.

When I say my face was in pain from the amount of smiling I did during this shoot, I am not overstating it. My cheeks hurt so much at the end of the shoot from all the laughing and smiling as I watched babies giggle and parents watch in awe as their littles became little explorers right in front of their eyes. I truly had an absolute blast on this shoot!
